Reflecting into the Future

by Walt Carvalho

The masses always look back on greatness, while greatness can see the future.

As people and the ways of doing things change, human potential gets tested to accommodate that change.

In early days, many years ago, humans would roam great vast lands waiting for something to appear. Hunting was a random chance, a way of life with two daily outcomes, eat or starve. While most were focused on the daily struggle, some viewed their situation as something to improve. The next phase might have been as simple as hunting with others so they had the ability to surround their game. It probably took time, but eventually, more and more solo wanders became team hunters.

The team hunters continued on routinely following the groundwork set up by others.

Still finding themselves hungry on most days, a new group of hunters began figuring out things that repeat, such as how the animals traveled and in what directions. Although their strategies were probably crude, they were somewhat effective. While many team hunters were starving, the strategy team hunters found a new method of increasing their meals. After many painful nights of starvation the team hunters gave up their old ways to join the others with a strategy.

Eventually, things evolved to a point where someone decided to stay home and raise their food on their own land. Crops and livestock would keep these people fed just as long as weather permitted. Visionaries could then see the possibilities if like-minded farmers could trade for seeds, crops and meat to make everyone’s bounty full and diverse.

At this point, people began realizing the power within the resources available. People began looking into the future with the belief that if they could sell some of their excessive crops or livestock for money, the new capital would be able to finance things that could improve his farm output, as well as his life in general.

This example of the forming of the agricultural revolution was then followed by another transformation called the industrial revolution.

We are now witnessing a modern transformation, which has been evolving for a few decades now.

This new frontier is information.

Information today is instant, mobile and vast. Networks of great people with vision abound. Laptops, smart phones and iPads have been put there by those who see the future.

The time has come to move forward and take advantage of all of the tools we’ve been given.

Just as the lessons of our past have taught us, there are always those that lead as there are those that follow.

Which are you?

Get Creative. Get Social.
