The New Silver Screen has a Keyboard
by Walt Carvalho
There was a day, not too long ago, when actors and actresses were adored for being involved in a very special activity. They were promoted stars, as in only seen from a distance and untouchable. In days past, only the professionals had access to quality cameras, not to mention the big business and capital needed to market their production. This has been the isolated and glamorous life of stardom.
Today however, people have been discovering their own power, in the world of video production.
The days are numbered, for select groups having control of ninety percent of what we see on television and movie screens. People have been not only involved in producing video; they have been working in distribution as well.
Viral videos, such as “Charlie bit my finger”, produced a huge following, as people laughed at the activities of two young brothers, where the baby brother (Charlie) bites his older brothers finger. People related to the boys reactions in this home video. They also had a desire to share with friends.
E-trade taps into the home video phenomenon, with their young online trader and his friends campaign. Smart move.
We are beginning to find successful paths reversed from what they used to be. Instead of the amateur following the pros lead, in some cases the roles have been reversed. The corporate filmmakers are finding success in copying the home video model.
The accessible video production model has got great potential, in this ever-changing world of global communication.
It looks like a canvas has been prepared for a very interesting artistic expression. Imagination and creativity will be showcased like never before.
Are you one of the new, up and coming stars? Think of the possibilities.
Get Creative. Get social.
